Sciracco Bullet Penatration Failure

I used a 180 Gr 30 Cal Sciracco in my 300WSM over 68.5 gr of RL 19 this weekend on a 110 lb deer. With a simple broad side shot the bullet failed to exit thru the sholder on the back side. I recoved the jacket fully expanded flat to the boat tail and was missing its lead just under the skin. Two sholder sould not stop a 180 Grain bullet.

Anyone else have simular problems wiht Sciracco Bullets?

I want a good BC and penitration. What should I Use?

the Partition Type Bullets with thier blunt tips slow down too fast.

Ok, you want great BC, high wieght retention, and penetration like no bodies business. I think you would like the Barnes TSX. Not going to expand like a Scirroco, but with that much hydrstatic shock, how much more do you need?

This kind of report seems to be the "norm" for plastic tipped bonded bullets. The jacket and lead sticks together but it just keeps expanding till it looks like a pancake.
If you can imagine the plastic opening the tip of the bullet like a flower you can imagine how the process starts and continues. A guy posted last year that he shot a whitetail closeup with a 300 wby and didn't get a broadside exit --it expanded so much so fast that it dumped all that speed into such a short distance. That's hydraulic braking at it's best but not what I want for performance.

too much speed for such a short range. why don't you try something like a .30/30 and an old winchester silvertip?
