I don't know what it is about this rifle but it has always shot just about anything I have put through it quite well. I tried 180 Accubonds in it last year with H-4831 and got ok results while the 180 Btip with the same powder shot excellent groups. I had been working with H-4350 last year but got busy and hunting season rolled around and it got put on the back burner.

I dug up my notes from last year and continued on from where I had left off. Last load was 55.5 of 4350 and that gave me several 1.25" groups. So I went to 55.8 grains of H-4350 with Fed 210 primers and Win cases.

Well the results were better than I expected!
Fired 2 made the nessary adjustments let the rifle cool, fired one 3 shot group put the rifle back in the case as I will not be able to do any better. I have about 4 pounds of this lot of 4350 over 100 of the 180 AB's and lots of the 210's. That should give me enough hunting ammo for a few seasons.

It's fairly obvious that's it's not all that "worn".

Good shooting.

Thanks guys but I assure you it is the rifle that makes those groups. I can fill a freezer come fall time long as I got the tags and thats about it. I figure one of you gentlemen shooting this rifle would put up a couple of one holers in short order.

But it is sure is nice when you happen on something that shoots good with out having to work at it too hard Wink

Well I have learned a thing or two from Shootastray. I think I should start a barrel Mfg Bizz and move nextdoor to him. Hell If I show the bank his posts here on how fast barrels wear out I should be able to get more than enough capital to buy brand new CNC gear and all the proper tools.Hell I might be able to retire before 50. Can you imagine the margins that could be made in short order! banana

I want shares if you do business with "shootbeside". We could all retire.

You don't have to be the best shot....Just the last shot.

I would try vit 540 or vit 550.At 100yds they should shoot in the same hole.If they don't shoot in the same hole, try Lapua cases and if that doesn't work, you may need to rebarrel.Factory Winchester rifles always shoot in the same hole at 100yds with Lapua cases and Vit powders. So do rifles with quality match barrels that are cleaned with JB on a brush.

Nah I don't think so! No need too, The old girl is more than accurate enough for hunting.Hell that accubond load should be accurate enough to make hits on Ground Hogs out to 400 yards if I desired to shoot ground hogs with her.
I have a better use for the rifle though and in that end there is no need for one hole groups. Puts "dick in the dirt" whenever I do my part and after quite a few years is like an old friend.

Hell it ain't even off the ground and already I have an offer to go public! So if we all can retire I guess we will have to take at least a month for hunting together.

How are the Mulies doing up in the Peace area this year? I saw a couple of Good Shooters there last Aug- Sept. Got mine In Virginia Hills Area last hour of the last day. Nothing to bragg about but it did make some nice sausage and peperoni. beer

Maybe shootaway can give you some l-o-n-g distance "shooting technique tips" and you can really reach out thar - to the other side of the hill. clap

I have to agree, I just find it funny that the rifle that gets thumped around in my truck and gets more dirt, crap and abuse the rifle that I worry about the least never lets me down.
