Needing some opinions on Winchester vs Lake City 223 brass. I was going with Winchester until I couldn't find a good source of once-fired and decrimped. So which and where?

Looks like Scharch has 1000 processed LC for about $47 and cabelas has the same for $65. I looked as brassman, but they are not processed and I don't want to decrimp anything.

.223.... Scharch...Winchester....LC

Those are some of my favorite words.
LC AND Win are both great for .223.

Thanks guys. I figured it was a toss-up between Winchester and Lake City. I read where Cabelas had the best deal, but looks like Scharch is cheaper b/c Cabelas is now selling Scharch brass plus a little boot for them.

thumbThe PMP ammo and than reloaded brass has given me spectacular results in my 12BVSS-S .223. I notice Natchez is temporarily out of it though. cheersroger

Who makes the brass for Black Hills match ammo? I'm finding a lot of "BHA" match cases.

Not interested in loaded ammo, prefer to roll my own. I've already got 100 rnds of cheap reloads from a local gun show for blasting.

unless you are looking to go for accuracy, use what you can find cheep. i find that winchester brass dosent strech as much as other brands,i get more reloads from it and everything i see from shooting winchester brass for accuracy,it appears to be best for accuracy rounds

For Winchester Brass.. once fired range brass from police ranges....

Try Southern Belle Brass... http://www.southernbellebrass.com...
The last batch I bought was $44.00 on the door step.. it does need to be tumbled and resized... I tumbled it for 24 hours when I got it as it was kinda dirty....

However once that was done, everything was fine...I prefer the Winchester, if nothing else.. I have had Lake City brass from Cabelas... with dates stamped on them from as far back as the 1960s!

I prefer Winchester for quality.. I prefer Lake City for quantity..

Southern Belle Brass is a compromise... they also had Remington and Federal range brass available...They listed "commercial 223 brass" at $32.00 per thousand.. plus shipping...

I just checked with Cabelas.. Scharch Lake City Brass is $36.99 per thousand plus shipping...

Cabelas does have cheaper shipping rates...but the price on the door step is competitive.. I live on the West coast, so I pay the higher shipping rates from Tennessee where Souther Belle is based out of...

They are also very good people to deal with in my experiences so far...

I think the conflicts in the Middle East is digging into the availability of 223 brass right now....

I prefer Winchester but having said that I've got some pretty good groups with the Lake City and Remington brass. I like dealing with the Brassman.

I've had case-head separations in a 6x45mm with military brass, and stopped using it. Nothing bad happened but I had to start carrying a 1/4-20 tap to get the cases out of the chamber...

You might consider getting a Small Base die. When dealing with brass shot in someone elses rifle the small base die will help to make sure you can chamber your reloads.

I don't think Cabelas is carrying 223 anymore.
If you go to the Scharch brass, the pull down menu doesn't let you select 223. Been that way for some time...am I missing something?

seafire-
I talked with cabelas customer service and there is no restocking date on the Scharch 223 brass. I've been waiting to order brass from cabelas for some time. The lots of 1000 at cabelas say sold out, can not back order and the lots of 500 pieces don't give you the option to select 223 brass.

However, they do still have .308 available.

Am I still missing something?
