I am loading for a new Savage 114Ultra, and have not had a lot of luck with IMR4831, or 4350 so far. I tried another powder I have seen suggested here, loaded up 55.5gr of H414, and bingo, I'm in buisness! My groups were just a bit over 2" at 200yds, but it was pretty windy this morning. In fact, it was so gusty, I couldn't even set up my chrony. Anybody got any idea of what velocity I might be running out of a 24" barrel? Of note, 180gr Partitions, and 180gr Remington CoreLocks gave identical results. Thanks guys! Joe Lt. Robert J. Dole, 10th Mountain, Italy.

this shows loads for you 180 grain 30-06 and H-414 I'm using H-414 in my 22" 30-06 and can get 2,800+ '/sec with the 180 grainers. Excellent groups and while I don't remember the amount I believe its a couple more than your load....but be careful and work up.....you might be about 2,650-2,700 as is. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." Thanks Vapodog! I'm not going to sneeze at 2740, plus or minus. The accuracy was enough to make me happy, and a 180 Partition would pretty much ruin a a cow elks whole day. Not to mention the deer in my area. It looks like 55.5 is listed as max, but I sure didn't see any scary pressure signs. Lt. Robert J. Dole, 10th Mountain, Italy.

And you won't....I believe this is a full 7,000 PSI less than the 270 win is loaded to. /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery."
