I load for a .300 Win. mag. I have good loads worked up using Lapua brass, but want to try the Nosler brass (which has much less internal volumn). I would like to load the 180 Accubond. Does anybody have any experiences with this brass/bullet combo. I would like to use H-1000, H-4831sc, Hunter, or VVN560 powders with a Federal GM215m primer. I am hoping for a velocity of 3050 to 3100 fps. with very good accuracy if this can be safely done. Any advice ?
Thanks,
Jim

If the loads in the Lapua brass are working for you why switch just to try a different brass? It's really good brass, but you're biting off a lot of work just to try it. Do you have another rifle you could develop a load for using this brass?

Hey Jim

I think I posted this link on the other forum but for those who haven't seen it here is a thread on Nosler brass. Evidently Nosler has a quality control issue lately. Too bad cause I really liked it. However it is not possible to mic the neck thickness in the store without opening the package so you're stuck with whatever you get.

I think I'm going to roll with Remington for a while. Those necks usually vary by .002" or so but they are usually thicker so I can turn them to uniform them.

I don't think Lapua makes 300 win mag brass anymore, correct?

woods,
I wanted to purchase more Lapua brass, but can't find it in .300 Win. Thats the reason for my post about Nosler brass. If I can't get Lapua, I need to start over with another brand. I have a new box of Nosler and was going to try it. The internal volumn is around 7 grs. less than Laupa, so will have to adjust the loads. I guess that I'll go back to Winchester and turn necks, etc. and just make quality brass.
Thanks for your input.

I have used Nosler brass for my 300 Ultra mag and they are great.I just bought some for my 308 because I can't find Win brass.I have Lapua for my 300Win mag and can't remember if I reloaded with Win brass for the 300Win mag,but did so in my 7mmRMag and 270WSM.I think Lapua is just as accurate as Win and Nosler.I tried Hornady brass for my Lott and it is accurate.I get about 3 reloadings from it before issues. It would be nice to try another brand(Norma) in the Lott and see if they last longer.
