I am loading h1000 in a 308 Norma Mag with 180 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips. 77.0 grs. makes 2900 fps in the 22" barrel.

I was just curious as to what powder charges you guys are using in the 300 Win Mags with h1000 and 180 gr. bullets.

Bullets from 180 to 200 tend to like max loads seated near the lands. 80 grains is near max for the 300WM with 180 grain pills, and 79 grains is max for 200 grainers. Many people like the 79 grain H1000 load with 200 grain bullets out of the 300WM. Of course, you won't be able to load this hot with your norma. With that slow of powder, I think you'll have better luck with the heavier bullets, but I'm not sure. The 4350s and 4831s of course should be great out of the norma mag with 180 grain bullets.

I used to shoot a 300 Win Mag for long range benchrest. I used 80.0 gr of H1000 behind a Lapua 185gr Scenar with Fed 215M primer. Max load so work up to it. This yielded 3110 fps from a 28" barrel with 10" twist and 5 shot groups of .400 or smaller at 100 yds. This is not a sporter rifle, but a 15 lbs benchrest rifle. I never got a chance to shoot this one at 1000 yds like I planned, but did shoot quite a bit a 500m with 2.5 to 3" five shot groops.

I wouldn't doubt Steve's (username ricciardelli) page will have loads for the norma mag in there. I wouldn't doubt he'll post his page, but if not just look for his username and his homepage will be listed below it.

I've used 83.0 gr as a max load but found 81.5 gr. to shoot really accurate. (With 180gr Sierra BT)
