I have never used the Hornady Neck dies, but have had no problems what so ever using the current New Dimension "custom grade" Full Length dies to neck up brass. Do they use their elliptical expander in the neck dies also? Is this a new die? I had an older set of New Dimension(pre-"custom grade" designation) dies that had a different expander in them. This die set was for a 250 Savage, trying to form a 22/250 into 250 and it didn't work so hot. I used the elliptical expander out of my 2506 set and it worked fine. YMMV, CAL

this a new die, use the elipitical expander ball, has a non thread stem...that as I recall fits into a collett.finger nut friction thing... ------------------ The sole purpose of a rifle is to please its owner

I have a Horn 22 neck size die & have no such problems, I just tighten it down & the expander never moves, must be something wrong with yours.

I have a new hornady 22 neck die that I have used on 222 and 22-250 with no problems. You have to get the nut pretty tight. Also, did you take it apart and clean it good with a degreaser before using it, it has oil on the stem from the factory. Also, you may be going too far, too fast, say from 22 to 25 cal all in one step, you may have to go 22 to 243 then 25, I don't know havn't used mine for necking up. You may want to call hornady, they are generally very helpful, they sent me a whole new expander/decap pin/rod for free when I ruined mine trying to get a stuck case out of my 222 FL die. I rate their customer service right up there with rcbs - top notch. RJS

Echo what RJS said....you can always call Hornady. On several occasions I have been so stupid as to stick cases in dies so tight even the case remover won't budge them. Mailed them into Hornady, they fixed and sent back...all for the price of postage. Can't complain about that.
