matt salm300WSM 168gr TSX guideance?
Just picked up some Barnes 168gr TSX's and I'm looking for some load data for H4831SC. Does anyone have a loadbook handy that shows powder charges, both starting and max for the 165 or 168gr X bullets?
Thanks!

matt salmI wonder, is H4831SC a suitable powder? Barnes emailed me their new load data for the 165 and 168TSX and their wasn't any data for the H4831. Their wasn't any listed until the 200gr TSX and max charge was 65.5. Think I should be looking for a faster powder??? I loaded 5 different charges from 66 to 70 gr, and 70 gr is right at 100% load density. I haven't fired any yet.

Not really, I've had descent results w/ H4831 pushing 150s.(70 grains)
H4831 should work just fine in your WSM w/ the 168s. You also don't have to use X bullet data w/ the XXX, the design allows for safer pressures than the old Xs. You should be fine w/ loads close to whats listed in other manuals for the same weight cup&cores. Start a couple of grains less if you are worried, never start near max.
I also had good luck w/ R22 under 165 Speers. The loads are compressed but, were accurate in that particular WSM.
Don't rule out H4350, H380, or 4895, they will work in your WSM assuming you can find the accuracy.
Hop over to
www.shortmags.org and see the listed data.
Good Luck
