What make of 458WM brass do you guys use and why do you prefer it? Also what is the best source of bulk quantities of brass?

When I had a 458WM I only used Winchester as it was the most readily available. Held up really nicely over multiple loads and never had any issues with quality.

I've had great results with Winchester also. It's plentiful and affordable...

Thought that Winchester no longer supplies brass for the .458 to reloaders.Maybe I'm wrong, hope so.

Winchester is the only one to offer it.

I just checked MidwayUSA and they DON'T EVEN LIST .458 Win Mag brass now... ???

Anyone know what the deal is on that? Are we now facing a brass crisis here or no?

I see you've got some W-W brass, but do you know what's up with W-W supplies? Perhaps Midway just dropped it from there line or is it something more sinister?

Thats the problem with shopping with Midway-type of people.
They order stuff like once a year and once they are out, they are out.
Sometimes for awhile.

458 is one of the calibers that Winchester marks as 'special' or that it is limited production and built to order.

I have 20 bags in stock, wait make that 19, I just sold one to a Jerry Smith in CA, that wouldn't happen to be an alias of Mike Smith would it?

Midway told me the same thing last week. They said they could not provide a restocking date. I then checked with Grafs. www.grafs.com They are out but said they will be getting some soon from Winchester, perhaps this week. I then back ordered a few bags.

Might want to try www.huntingtons.com

Winchester does indeed still make 458 brass. Unfortunately it is amoung the items that Winchester typically only makes one run of each year. If you want some, buy it when you find it. If I can't find 458 Win Mag brass I look for some other magnum case that is at least 2.5 inches long. I trim the brass back and use it.
Some places sell "basic" magnum brass which is just straight wall magnum brass. You can always trim that brass back.

Remington also offers new 458 brass.I've used both and there is not a lot of difference .

Yes, I agree. I dont see much difference either. Perhaps a little more weight fluctuation betweeen batches but no performance difference to speak of. The problem here is no one has had 458 WM brass of any make in stock. I hit six different gun stores within an hours drive as well as all my usuall mail order places. Everyone was out of stock. That is why I ordered from Cliff's. Thses guys shipped the order the same day and I had it within 2 days. I appreciate good service and am not unwilling to pay a little extra for it although these guys really were not any higher than most other places. I will definitely give them my buisness again.

Amen to that, I had my .458 Win brass in like two days from Cliff and will be ordering more things from him in the future. I've bought from him once before in the past and had the same pleasant experience.

PS: Who sells Remington .458 Win brass? Don't recall seeing it listed as a component. Ditto ref Hornady brass? Who carries that in .458 Win?

Remington does not offer 458 WM brass as a reloading componet.
Midway and others may have it only because Remington sells to them in bulk, and they cheat on their excise tax which makes it cheap.

I don't stock Hornady brass in normal sizes, pretty much only in the oddball calibers such as Lott, Steyr etc.

I do have Basic Mag Hornady Brass, which as mentioned before can be trimmed to your desired length.
