Due to the reduced bearing surface of this bullet - when used for a 30 caliber load - expect reduced barrel heat especially in a sporter type barrel. This is great for plinking but at the expense of accuracy.

I shoot a fair amount of military M80 ball for both target and plinking and I am very satisfied with the accuracy.

According to TM 43-0001-27, the load for M80 ball is;
WC 846 (46 grains).

I am not familiar with any mil-spec loads. Does your load use LC or commercial brass or are you talking about strictly mil-spec M80 ammo? I found the loading data online from the TM and am not sure about the loading due to the stated "WC 846 AND 4895". Surely this must mean one or the other powders but not the combination. Anyone know?

FWIW, I shoot a lot of Speer's 150 grain FMJBT, which is their equivalent of the 147gr. military bullet, in my Rem700 22" barrel.

I get good results with 46gr. of H335, or 47gr. of Varget. That's near or at the max in Speer's manual, so work up carefully.
