Just tried Hammer Bullets for the first time in my 9.3x62. Accuracy was great with the Hammer 258-grain bullet, the heaviest 9.3mm bullet they make. I would like to use these bullets on larger plains game this summer and welcome any comments from this who have actually used Hammer bullets on big game. Thanks.

I have never heard of Hammers, but I have used RWS, Privi, and Hornady 9.3 bullets, and they all kill stuff. Dead.

When I had my 9.3x62 I shot 285 grain cast bullets with very good success. Hope to have the same success with the 9.3x57 that I bought from Tom. Even at 1800 fps that 285 grain bullet will kill efficiently… at least on Georgia game.

I think I bought 100 in two different weights for my 400 H&H. Un fired as of yet.

What I appreciate about Hammer this far is their customer service. I had enquired about the .411 size and they actually notified me when available. I purchased quickly.

The Boutique Bullet industry seems to be taking off. I heard of an outfit named Northern Precision last week.

Seems interesting.

Truthfully I wish that Nosler and Barnes would just ramp up to cover all, Woodleigh too. Sierra and Hornady can provide the cheap, practice stuff and when touching one off on live targets the aforementioned would go.

There's quite a bit of writing about them on the web. The accuracy sounds good, but some people are upset about their lack of performance on game.

I believe all of their big game hollow point designs are meant to be frangible. In my experience that's a bad idea on big game... so I'm not sold on the concept.

I've bought them for one caliber, and the accuracy seems okay, but I haven't used them on game yet. (They are one of the only choices for a legal nonlead hunting bullet (in CA) for my grandfather's .348... so that's why I bought a few.)

I was told by a respectable fellow here that I'd love the CEB's that are frangible like the Hammer bullets. I'll take him at his word but as I said, no experience other than the purchase yet.

I've had cheap, crummy bullets come apart on moose and wasn't impressed. I really like the weight retention of the TSX's and would shoot little else if possible. In my 9.3 I use nosler and woodleighs and on moose am super happy.

Hammers are designed to shear off the front of the bullet by petals of copper creating other wound channels. Base of the bullet is like the Nosler Partition where it drives through the animal. They are very accurate in my Coopers, shooting into the .2's when I am having a good day.
