Hey guys I am looking for some petloads for my 30-30 with 150 to 180 grn bullets. Same for the 7.62x39. I'm not to worried about terminal performance I am more concerned with accuracy. I am shooting them out of an Encore carbine. The 7.62x39 is a .308 bore. I know that there are a lot of variations and your load may be safe in your gun and not in mine, I understand all of that I will start all loading on the light side and work up to your proven load.

Thanks for any and all information.

Doug

Best performance from my Encore in 7.62X39 was with the Lee C-.312-155-2R over either 17gr. IMR4227 or 26.5gr. AA2200 - both shot groups you could cover with a nickle at 100 yds. with a 10 inch barrel. Oh, run that bullet as cast, comes out at .313 since the Encore has that huge funnel throat. In the 30-30 I use the same bullet sized to .311 over 17.0gr. AA5744 in my Marlin 336 (single loaded of course) and accuracy is about the same - maybe quarter size groups at 100.

fish, I load 140 grain Barnes X bullets with 38 (thirty-eight) grains of W748, a Winchester case, and CCI 250 primer, and achieve 2575 FPS out of my single shot NEF 30-30. I have no need to use a heavier bullet as the Barnes 140 will outperform other brands 150 grain bullets.

It is also the most accurate load I have found, consistently under 1 inch.

This load may not work in lightly made rifle, but the NEF action will withstand 52,000 cup loads. The receiver on all handi- rifles are the same.
