There was a guy in Wanamingo that had a Wasp....

I'd have to look a bunch to find his name but might be able if required.

butchloc,
I've shot my Ruger #3 .219 Wasp over 6000 rounds since 1994, so I have a few loads to share. First, these loads are for the long version of the Wasp(1.813 case length,1.363 to shoulder,1.497 to neck-shoulder junction) as shown in Sierra loading manual. A lot of older rifles are chambered for a shorter version, and these loads would have to be reduced for it. My barrel is a Shilen 14" twist 27" long. My load for the first 3000 rounds was 29.3 gr N135, 50gr Nosler ballistic tip, for 3560 fps. From my notes some other loads with 50NBT's
29.0 H4895, 3480 fps
31.0 748, 3550
31.3 N140, 3580
31.5 Varget,3600
33.5 380,3488
34.0 H414, 3460
After the throat was gone, the 50 NBT's would not group, I switched to mollied 55 V-maxes and 31.5 N140 at 3400 fps. I shot this load for PD's for several years before switching to 32.0gr Varget with the 55 V-max's for 3470fps. It was still grouping under 3/4 average this spring with the 55 v-max's after 6000+ rounds. I think these 55gr loads would be too hot without the freebore of the worn throat. I used a Redding 3 die set for all my loading. I had the neck die converted to a bushing die by JLC Precision. I see that Redding now has dies for the short version.

This is a pic of my .219 Wasp from a couple of years ago. It is at the gunsmiths now to be rebarreled to .204 Wasp. I took it and a Pac-Nor 11" twist .20 cal barrel along with my .204 Wasp reamer to him in early May and hope to get it back before long. I have a #1 .204 Wasp that I really like for PD's so decided to have a second one. I will be without a .219 Wasp for the first time in almost 20 years.

butchloc,
Forgot to mention, all loads used R-P 30-30 brass and Fed 210 primers

.204 Wasp,.219Wasp,.219DW PKD,.224BRM,6.5 Bullberry Imp.,.30 Herrett
These are all my 30-30 based wildcats, although I had to use 38-55 brass for the .224BRM because the chamber from EABCO is too long for 30-30 brass.
