I just recieved a new Forster F/L die for the .300 Win. mag. It produces sized brass with .001< runout at the neck. However, I would like more bullet grip. Is it advisable to chuck the expander assembly into an electric drill and turn down the expander ball with emory cloth to increase bullet grip? I have never attempted die modification and need the thoughts of the experts.
Thank you,
Jim

It's neither new nor complicated.

Go slowly and measure the expander ball frequently.

I've done it several times. Like George says go slow and measure often. An Oops means you buy a new expander.

As usual just my $.02

How much bullet grip are you shooting for? If you measure inside the case mouth what dimension are you getting? I personally like it to measure about .304-.305....anything less I wouldn't like....anything more and your seated runnout may start to suffer a tad.
