I was wondering if anyone out there has a rifle chambered in .308 Warbird. I was wondering about the accuracy, "real world" velocity, etc. Any comments welcome. Thanks.

Hello, One of the gentlemen at my club uses a Warbird. Was one of these built on a Sako rifle. The synthetic stock on this Sako was beautiful, it was pure black with a finsih so deep you thought you could dive in it. Your 5/8" groups, and I assume these were measured center-to-center are very good. His were 1 inch-ish center-to-center, of course he had the rifle on a rest, but not "locked" in bags. His velocities were around the 3400-3450 mark. ------------------ Safety & Ethics,Accuracy, Velocity, Energy Joe M [This message has been edited by JoeM (edited 05-21-2001).]

K WOOD,for u is better 308 Warbird or 30-378 Weatherby Magnum for target shooting at 1000 yards? And which is the one with more energy?

Yes the 5/8" groups are measured center to center. I'm not a real fanatic when it comes to group measuring. I usually just use a steel ruler and mesure the widest shots on center. Usually I make sure the measurement is well within what I claim. As far as 1000 yd. shooting goes I doubt there is much difference in the warbird and the wheatherby. From what I've seen it depends on what data you look at as to which one is faster. According to Lazzeroni theirs is faster. In my gun, my loads usually chronograph higher than published velocity's for the weatherby, but I've never chronographed one. I can only load my gun to slightly above lazzeroni's published minimum load, but I get the advertised velocity and maybe a little more. Like I said before I like mine so much I'm building another one.
