Yesterday I took my rifle (300 WM) to the range for the first time. But, after 23 rounds through the rifle, I was very sore and will have a bruise. I saw reduced loads in the speer reloading manual and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these? Or, does anyone have a suggestion for a load that will reduce the recoil?

BTW. The rifle was a All Weather Ruger 77 MKII, the load:
Win brass
CCI 250 primer
69 grains IMR 4350
150 Speer soft point
3 shot group 1.4" (two shots touching, one flyer, shot off a rickety bench).
I was a little worried with the Ruger because of some unfavorable rumors, but now feel confident with the decision to buy one.

I've used them, they seem to work fine for off-hand practice and just plinking. Never was able to get target accuracy out of them, but then again, that's not the purpose. Good way to start kids off, too. JMO, Dutch.

It's difficult to get a Weatherby Magnum to shoot really accurately with reduced loads, due to the large powder capacity and freebored throat. The best results I have seen were obtained using VERY SLOW powders that filled the case up into the neck.
