Ive never trusted those mil no. 34 primers, they are designed for slam fire auto military guns..harder primers and off set, It just looks like a accident waiting to happen, just saying and I sure might be wrong, but Im sticking with the commercial stuff except for a last resort. I am also concerned about them effecting my POI on my rifles in which case if I bought them by the 1000 and thats how they are sold I would have to change things when the good stuff comes out and Im stuck with primers I wont use...Am I right or wrong?

Im holding out for now or will use 200s and add a grain of powder..that works pretty good..

I went to my local Cal ranch yesterday and they finally got a shipment of a bunch of ammo and bullets. I got a few items, still no primers or powder though. But Im hoping that is a sign that things will begin to normalize a bit. The scalper prices are disgusting.

Primer prices are as bad as $4 gasoline.
It might be a long time before I really need more primers but I need fuel every day.

I'm disgusted with the whole mess.

A long time ago someone gave me a bunch of 34's.
I also wondered if they would give troubles.
No trouble in any rifle I tried them in, vel were unchanged or with-in lot to lot difference.
I now have a few Kimber rifles with light firing pins and springs. I am going to try them in those now, for my curiosity.

I have been shooting them since I first could buy them, which was around 1999, during the Clinton primer scare.

There is no reason to be frightened of CCI #34's, according to CCI they are their military line of primers, and they meet military sensitivity specifications, so they are less sensitive than commercial primers.

This is only a concern in weapons with marginal ignition systems, and they are out there. Such as my Ruger #1 in 35 Whelen, the firing pin hit 26 thousandths of an inch off center, and misfired with Federals. Would have misfired more often had I tried CCi #34's. Luckily I was able to talk Ruger customer service gunsmith to do something as he claimed the rifle was within spec! The gunsmith raised the breech block a bit, which brought the strikes closer to center.

In terms of accuracy, they shoot fine. I have more bolt gun targets with Federals, because I want to shoot them up first before I using up my stock of CCI #34's, which I purchased for my Garands and M1a's.
