Has anyone heard if Win is bringing out the 6.5 or .338 or .35 on their WSM case?

I couldn't wait either, so I'm building my own .35-300 WSM on the MRC M1999 short action. Will post load results probably in September. Jerry/AK

Lynn, I had an XP-100 fitted with a fluted, stainless Lilja 15" barrel and reamed for the 338 WSM. It has been an amazing performer out of the handgun. I tested the 180 and 200 gr ballsitic tips using RL-15 and got and average of 2950 fps with the 180 and 2820 fps with the 200 gr pills. Both averaged under 3/4 moa. I harvested a very nice 4x5 mule deer at 317 yards last fall with it along with two other does for the feezer. All in three rounds. When I ordered my reamer, JGS asked if I wanted the full length 338-300 WSM or a version that Browning had ordered which was 1/10" shorter the the parent case. It appears that Browning and Winchester are looking to do what Rem did with the 338 RUM and shorten it saying the bullets need the shorter neck, this is as we all know a load of crap and all it did was slow the sales of the 338 RUM since it is really nothing more then a non-belted 340 WBY as far as performance goes. If Win/Browning do the same I think they will be making a big mistake. My 338 WSM handgun will drive same weight bullets within 100 fps of factory loaded 300 Win Mag in a rifle. Chambering this round in a rifle with at least a 24" barrel would be very impressive for its size. I would say 3300 fps with the 180 would be very possible and 3150 with the 200 gr class. It is a great handgun round and would be as good or better in a rifle. Good SHooting!!! 50
