Hi Guys I got a box of 100gn Sierra Varminter hollow points in 6.5x55 at a good price today. I have some AR2213SC which is H4831SC in America. Has anyone tried H4831SC with 100gn hollow points in a swede M96 6.5x55. Regards Deafdog ------------------

Hi Scot Thanks for your response. In the ADI powder manual they give for 100gn AR2208(close to R15) 42gn for 2,785 AR2209(close to R19) 50gnC for 3,172 AR2213SC(close to R22) 51gnC for 2,883 I loaded some at 46gn and 47gn of AR2213SC to try out.I'll see how they go. Have you tried the 100gn at 200yds? Regards ------------------

Deafdog, I have used the 100 out to 200. With the group sizes I managed, it would be poor on gophers and ideal for rabbit sized varmints. It is explosive when you connect and would destroy the hide on a coyote at 200. But if you like a pink mist... I use 49.6 WW 760 or H414 for approx. 3250 fps. I used standard rifle primers for this load and would suggest cutting the charge if you prefer magnum primers. I use a 6" drop tube for H4831SC. Using the tube, I am able to get 50.3 grains under a Sierra 140 SPBT (3.06" OAL, Rem or Win brass) and still have a perceptible shake in the case. Without the drop tube, the powder would be about mid neck and will crunch powder when seating the bullet. The 140 load will typically group under .5 inches in a clean barrel but will open up to over one inch when the barrel has some jacket fouling. I use this as my sign that I have a few hours of bore cleaning ahead of me. This load clocks 2930 in a 29" barrel. Note: This load is quite a bit over accepted 6.5 X 55 data and probably is in the 60 kPSI range. FWIW, H4831SC is my favorite powder for the swede in bullet weights between 129 and 160 grains. It is also a perfect marriage to LEE's Perfect Powder Measure. It throws accurate charges with this powder and I don't waste my time verifying charge weights any more, unless I change loads. The LEE measure performs well with other extruded powders, but performs best with 4831SC. I believe this is a result of the glazed coating on this powder.
