My local store has some bullets on sale with some decent prices. I saw a couple boxes of 7mm 140/160gr Failsafes marked down to $19.99.

Not sure what I'd do with them, as I don't have any game big enough to warrant shooting them here.

How hard are these to load for and to get to shoot accurately?

A friend used a 100 grain fail safe .243 in Wisconsin last fall on a small doe at 265 yards and the performance was awesome.....very impressed.

If your particular rifle likes them not very hard at all, these are both 200 yard groups. For whatever reason my Sako's have always seemed to shoot Failsafe's well. Some other rifles haven't. At $19.95 they are probably worth a try...............DJ

I have shot up a couple hundred 165 gr failsafes in my old 30-06 and loaded another hundred for a recoil shy friend to use at lower velocity for an elk hunt.
My old Winchester and his Savage would each shoot them into 1.5 inches at 100 yd. Not the most accurate bullet I have used, but plenty accurate enough for general game shooting. I found them to be more accurate than the Barnes X and to foul quite a bit less than the X bullets in my rifles.
I generally use more generic bullets, which are less expensive. This allows me to shoot far more than if I were paying for premium bullets all the time.

I have shot two moose up to now with my 375 H&H using 270gr Winchester Failsafe and all I can say is that the performance was phenomenal!!! The first moose was shot a little high in the spine and dropped on the spot. The second moose was shot in the vitals and stood there for a few seconds then rolled over.

Guess what I will be using next year... lol
