What a bucking fummer. My brother asked me if I could make another 200 handloads for his friend who also shoots a 7x57mm. So, I got on Graf's website and the Remington 7x57mm brass is out of stock. No problem, I thought, I'll go with Midway. Same deal. None in stock and a little note Midway will not be reordering them. I checked three other major internet reloading sites and each one shows Zero, Zip, Nada 7x57mm brass made by Remington. I called back to Grafs and they said it looks like Remington stopped production on the 7x57mm brass, period! Two months ago I looked at Grafs and it had the brass in stock, as did Midway. I liked the Remington brass. I think I used Winchester brass a while back and if memory serves me correctly, Winchester has a bit less case capacity than does the Remington cases. I really don't know what is going on. When ever someone posts something about the 7x57mm on this forum, or many others that I visit, the posts always seem to have quite a few responses, telling me there are quite a few 7x57mm users out there, or am I just way the hell off base there? I guess when Winchester decides to bail as well, I'll have to go with Norma, which is pricey as hel1. Oh well, thanks for letting me vent. Guess I needed that. Tom Purdom

Did you try... www.blue-star-inc.com ?

They are great guys to work with and usually have brass after the "majors" run out.

I think the scenerio is more like an increase in popularity is causing some distributors to be out of products that are made only once a year as that's all the usage justifies. This is what I believe is the case with 300 H&H brass.

Time will tell but I'm not at all convinced that the usage means that they're not going to supply brass anymore.

Not quite, called remington yesterday on the subject. They don't list the brass in their 2006 catalog. Midway has alot on backorder, and the gal I talked to said that she'll get ahold of marketing to see if Rem. is going to send them some. Otherwise, 8mms are plenty, and could be ran through 7mm dies, though the shoulder would have to be pushed back some. Jay

8MM won't work. You'll get longitudinal tight wrinkles in the shoulder of the case. Been there and done it. I've never figured out why that happened, but it did.

If you resize it in 7mm Mauser dies without the expander plug in it first... then resize it with the expander plug in it, this should eliminate this happening....

It may be two steps instead of one, but it eliminates the problem....

I do this all the time, necking down 308 brass to 260 Remington... and 8mm Mauser to 6.5 x 57 Mauser....
