Anybody using IMR powders SR 4756 and SR 7625 for medium loads in revolvers? I would like to use them in velocity range 1100-1200 fps from 6â€-7.5†barrels, for the following calibers and bullets, jacketed and cast:

357 Magnum, 158/160 gr
41 Magnum, 210/230 gr
44 Magnum, 240/260 gr
45 LC, 250/260 gr

Any recommendation for the powders charges?

How sensitive are these powders regarding their position in the case? Any difference in bringing handgun in horizontal position from barrel down v/s from barrel up position?

Any birdseed, unburned powder granules?

IMR powders SR 4756 and SR 7625 are few of those single base ones (nitrocellulose only), and still reasonable priced.

Thanks, Onty.

I've used both -- SR7625 in a .45 ACP (revolver) and SR4756 in a .45 Colt. They are relatively clean burning and seem to be consistent. The .45 ACP loads were medium power, and the Colt loads were toward the upper end of the velocity range with that cartridge. There seems to be very little data for 4756 in that type of application, but it seems to have worked well.

I use SR4756 in a 41 mag with Starline brass, Nosler 210's WLP's and 11.5gr of the powder. It produces 1475fps from my 10" Freedom and consistently prints 1.5-2" 5-shot groups at 100 yards. The load also works well in my Ruger Redhawk 7 1/2" and Smith 57, 8 3/8" shooting around 2" at 50 yards with both of those guns. I think the Ruger and the Smith were both around 1200fps.
I also use 4756 in my 300 Whisper, 10" contender
8.5gr behind a 155HPBT and WSP's.
And finally I use it in my Ruger 10" 44 mag with Starline brass, WLP 215gr Ideal GC bullet (with no check) 14gr of powder. Shoots great, but never put on paper or across the Chrono, just know it will hit pert'near anything it's pointed at.
Great powder, I reach for it often and test with it every chance I get.

Stonecreek, Jcunclejoe,

I would appreciate if you could share loads for 41, 44 and 45 LC using SR 7625 and SR 4756. Please, specify exact bullet type and overall length of loaded cartridge. You can send loads directly on my e-mail; ibcdiesel@netscape.net .

Many thanks.
