450gr TXS .458 bullets - Pressure spikes
Anyone else noticing pressure spikes with these?

yes, every charge weighed

seems once in 5 or 6 shots, I'll get a flattened primer.. gun shoots everything else very well...

in this case, the 458 winmag

yes, I agressively cleaned the barrel..

and yep, same OAL and primers

Have the cartridges with the pressure spikes been loaded in the magazine? Has the bullet been mashed down into the case with recoil or perhaps when you chambered a round?

Grumulkin,
single loaded, range work on load dev, no "flaws" in the reloading practice, that i can find... do NOT have these issues with 500gr or rem 405 conventional bullets.. or even 400gr X bullets

Jeffe,

It may be time to segregate brass by weight, and mike the bullets. Typically unnecessary with big bores, but when monometal bullets are involved, it might help to narrow down the causal factor.

(never mind while I beat jimmie)..
Could be.. then again, if barnes made their bullets more like GS custom, they would have LESS pressure.. but that .400" long solid shank in the rear of the bullet is just weird

I've been using that bullet with 76 gr. of H-335, WW cases and WMR primers.

I'm sure I could push it a bit harder, but the accuracy would be hard to beat. No pressure anomalies so far. I've been crimping into the second groove from the top (in a separate operation), which results in slight powder compression.

They shoot well, but the copper fouling is annoying.

Excellent bullet, excellent accuracy

At least in my former Ruger Nro.1

Got easily 2350 fps out of 82gr of Reloder 12 plus WLRM and Win cases (nickeled)

No ordinary signs of pressure, but how can be for sure...
