Jon has a GREAT POINT. With longer bullets and faster calibers definately try some longer range testing. I have a 300 wby that shoots 180 barnes boattails (I've gotta see if the new ribbed ones shoot better) into 1.5" at 100 yds. BUT at 300 yds it is a 3" grouper. This with a 10 power scope and the guy behind the trigger an average shooter.
I have 100% confidence in that gun and load--now to see if the triple shock will do even better!!

The Accu bond is a hunting bullet and normally the construction of a premium bullet requires core bonding and various jacket thickness within the individual bullet and that isn't the best approach to accuracy but and I think one could sacrifice a little accuracy to the Balistic tips in order to get better game killing performance of the accurbonds over the very accurate balistic tips....I suspect that 1.5 inches is all one needs for hunting big game...

Thanks for all the replies and ideas, I suspect Ray is right but I like tight little groups.

Then try Jon's idea. Shoot them at 300 to 400 yards and see what happens. I suspect you'll be pleasantly surprised....

Thanks for all the replies and ideas, I suspect Ray is right but I like tight little groups. NBHUNTER had an idea abought a bad batch, the last two groups I shot came from a new box. I was getting close to what I liked before then. It rained here all day right at 4". Anyway hope to shoot some more tommorrow. By the way Ray this is the gun I am taking next week on your goat hunt and I don't wanna hear any rumbling's 'bout how them southern boys can't shoot.

by the way I am using the 140gr 7mm Accubond it should be the same length as the 140 BT. I have shot the 160gr in my 7STW and it likes them.

Thanks

Wayne

What is the prevailing thought out there are they as accurate as the BT's. I have been shooting all morning and can not get a group under 1". This gun with BT's is easily under 1". I have a new Lilja barrel broken in per Lilja specs. I do not have any BT's that are not coated to shoot in this new barrel. I may buy a box just to try but these accubonds seem to be a problem. I know new barrel and all that but I have tried two different powders in about 4 charge weights and three different seating depths each. That makes at least 25 combo's I have one recipe that seems to work and maybe after shooting all day I have developed a flinch. Anyway the gun is a Browing A-Bolt 280 Rem with Lilja barrel and I use Redding comp dies. Weigh every charge and check OAL length on every round and heep it within .002 of each other in the group.

Any Ideas

Wayne

The accubonds shoot as accurate (sub moa) in my Winchester Model 70 as the BTs. The 200 grain accubonds give me sub moa groups in my Savage 116 300 RUM. I use IMT 4350 powder in both rifles.
