Gentlemen,
I'm in need of a neck sizing die for a few of the chamberings I reload most often and wanted to get your opinion. Specifically the .22 Hornet, .22-250 Remington, and the .257 Roberts. I have Forster Ultra Micrometer seaters and Forster FL sizers, however, I've read there are better options to neck sizing than a common neck die. I'm leaning toward the Redding S type bushing dies, however, I'm open to suggestions. Thank you, Matt.

Matt. Ive posted a few comments on dies in Reloading, look under "Squaring dies" and "Neck sizing with a FL" and in Varminting, you'll just have to check around, but I will answer again.

For high quality, accurate ammo with little or no run out, you can't beat Wilson or Redding Bushing type dies. The bushings are interchangable, you can set the amount of resizing so you don't work you brass much (I use 0.003), you won't induce runout by dragging a sizing button through the neck. Just run'un in, prime and load. Over all they aren't to costly, you can save money by not having to buy a bunch of dies.

I buy most of my loading stuff from Lock, Stock and Barrel, Natchez, Midsouth and Sinclair. Shop around.

I use both FL and Neck sizers because over time unless you have your sizing die set perfectly the case gets longer and soon you won't be able to chamber a neck sized only case due to the datum point moving forward. That's one reason why I recommend the Redding Competition shell holders.

You already have one of the best seaters in the Forster Ultra (I use them also) and you can send 3 cases to Forster and they will make you another sliding chamber and seating stem for whatever caliber you want and all you have to do is swap out the chambers when you want to seat another caliber.

I also recommend getting a set of Redding Competition Shell holders so you can adjust the amount of shoulder set back without causing the problems partial sizing brings to the banquet.

Do you neck turn and do all the other bench rest thingys??

I can guarantee you won't be disappointed with the Bushing dies.

I use the Redding Type 'S' bushing neck dies for my .243 Ackley Improved and 7mmSTWs.

They are easy to use, and produce very accurate and consistent ammo.
