Can this brass be formed from another case that is readily available? The price of Norma is off the hook and I am looking for a cheaper way out. Regards... Gary

You bet. You can easily resize .284 win brass. I bought some that came in a bag of 50 so you're not spending too much $$$$. You are opening the mouth from 7mm up to .308 and doing some downsizing to the base so if you have some imperial sizing wax it helps. Otherwise it will just take a little more sizing effort. Too make the process easier I first opened up the case mouth on all the brass with my hornady .308 neck sizer, then ran the brass through my 7.5 die to shrink down the base dimension. I think you are also setting the shoulder back a little so be sure you have the die touching the shellholder. I don't think I've ever read where this didn't work for someone. Let me know if you have questions.

The Swiss 7.5 chamber in the K31 is different than the 7.5 Swiss in the 1911 Swiss. As a result, the 7.5 Swiss dies available resize below the shoulder too much. http://swissriflewebsite.com/FAQ.htm http://www.clymertool.com/design/index.html click on "database search" click on "rifles ... rimless" click on ".284 Win" click on "search database" C base diamter is .5010" D sholder diameter is .4760" E neck diameter is .323" K base to mouth distance is 2.1800" What does it all mean? A .284 Win sizing die with the neck lapped out to .339" would be a better fit for partial neck sizing than the 7.5 Swiss dies I own are for my K31. There is a mismatch with shoulder angles. The Swiss is 27.5 degres and the .284 is 35 degrees, so the Swiss dies would be needed for inital sizing and shoulder bump.

WOW... What a terrific response. Thanx to all guys, i believe the Graff deal is the way to go. Just could not see spending almost $80 per hundred for the Norma brass. This will of course be a surplus K31, anyone know what I should expect in the way of accuracy allowing the bore is in good shape? Reason I chose the Swiss was if they can make watches they should be able to produce a tight rifle. Regards...g

Hammer, With carefull load development, most people are getting around 1 MOA at 100yds with a scope or peep sights. These are very accurate rifles. Pay attention to seating depth as they have VERY short throats. Tons of info and load data at these two sites. http://pub18.ezboard.com/btheswissriflesdotcommessageboard http://pub125.ezboard.com/fcollectorguns35625frm1 Mine averages ~3/4" with two or three different loads. Good Luck. Greg
