Federal Premium 300WM ammo sells for around $50 to $60 a box here. Hornady, $35 to $45. I can't find any name brand premium 300 ammo for $25, sure wish I could. LORD, let my bullets go where my crosshairs show. Not all who wander are lost. NEVER TRUST A FART!!! Cecil Leonard

Sorry man--dont know where they are 25 bucks...I guess green box remington is around that but most anything else is 35+, and if it has a partition or x bullet in it--it is closer to 40. DRSS Member

Hard to say for sure, as I don't think I have ever purchased factory hunting ammo! 45+ for premium ammo seems to be the floor from what I have seen. Hunting: Exercising dominion over creation at 2800 fps.

Patricio, Well, if you really want the air sucked outa your body try The Fatherland. I can't comprehend how folks get by without reloading ..... RWS for example in pretty much any flavor they offer has the sticker-shock of €uro 62-82 depending on cartridge/caliber. The package with Norma printed on it is even more-e-e expensive; I don't look 'cause I don't wanna know. Translated into $ makes it at the current exchange rate $80.50 - $106.50 for a Box of 20. I load 300 Weatherby for a German Forester friend of mine; loaded @ 5-6 boxes one time (with Barnes TSX's!) and wondered why he was so grateful; afterwards I looked at the catalog price and realized I'd just loaded about $1,100.00 worth of German-priced ammo for him! A gunsmith was showing me a Client's Westley-Richards 416-500 Nitro Express double rifle and pulled a cartridge outa the package - either soft-nose or solids are $24.60 per cartridge. Shotgun shells (hunting) are expensive as well; Trap & Skeet cartridges are still relatively reasonably priced; especially if you purchase in bulk (we're talking a pallet or @ 17,000 at a time). We usually get 3-4 Guys to chip-in together for a several year supply. Cheers, Number 10

The least expensive factory ammo I've bought in recent history is about 40 dollars for a box of 20 ('06 with 180 grain Barnes bullets). I reload for one obvious reason as the rest of my chamberings are Weatherby. Anything based on the 378 case goes for 140 dollars and up for a box of 20. Ken.... In over three decades of target shooting and huntingI have never purchased factory ammo. For handguns handloading includes casting all bullets. These are produced by the thousands, lubed, and bulk loaded when time permits. Rifle bullets are purchased by the thousands when possible. Any firearm I purchased new has never used factory ammo.

Since you did not say you needed premium bullets, look at Natchez Shooters Supply. They have several different brands in stock (always a plus) for under $30 per box, and their shipping is reasonable. I believe they have Federal, Remington, Hornady and Winchester for under $30 per box. Some of it the newer bonded bullets. I am shocked at the price of 168 grain Sierra match kings and switched to Nosler Custom competition to save a few pennies without any lowering of results. All of my bolt and lever action rifles have good cast loads worked up for them, at jacketed bullet velocities. These include 30-06, 243 Win., 45-70, 405 Win, 375 Whelen and 45 Colt. I've gone as long as five years without buying jacketed bullets for any of my bolt lever guns. Unfortunately my Armalite AR10s are far more demanding in their bullet preferences. Buying Sierra or Nosler 175 grain match bullets by the thousand dents the butter and egg money a bit.
