Hey guys,

I'm looking for suggestions on an 85 gr hunting bullet for my 6mm Ackley. It will be used for pronghorns and an occasional whitetail doe. Should I try the 85 gr Barnes X or should I try an 85 gr Partition?

Thanks for any input.

Al

My experience with these bullets is that to find the one that shoots best you have to try them both. For years I used the 85 grain Sierra bthp and the 87 grain Hornady with good results pushing them near 3400 fps out of a standard 6MM remington. I used the 85 grain Partition on a few deer in Texas and liked the other bullets better. Currently I have 100 grain Hornady boattails loaded to around 3100 ready for my antelope hunt in Wyoming.

Another vote for Hornady. You can buy more expensive bullets but IMHO the "advantage" will be mostly in your head.
