I'm setting up some 140gr TSX's for my 7remmag. I've got the measurement for .05 off the lands but it leaves the end of the case in one of those grooves. Does it matter other than asthetically? It just doesn't look right to me.

I use the same bullet in the 7 Mag and my load also puts the end of the case over a groove and it doesn't matter in the least.

Same for my '06. And it shoots the TSXs like a house on fire.

I emailed Barnes when I first started loading hte TSX and they said it made no difference where the grooves happen to land when the bullet is seated. Mine shoot fine and I can see the groove on some and not on others. Depends ont he OAL and the bullet weight.

It doesn't make any difference.

FWIW, I no longer use the .050 rule with Barnes TSX bulelts. I start them touching the lands and work up in powder. I have found the best accuracy in my last two rifles at about .015 off the lands.

Depends om the barrel, I started at .015 and ended at .063 (.270 Win, 59.5 grains H 4831sc), seemed my best accuracy. Ignore the grooves in the bullet, don't mean a thing (for seating).
