Working from memory here...The .284 case capacity is very near the same as the '06 case, short by maybe 3 grains of water (66 grains vs. 69 grains).

Almost perfect, Jerry, here's the data.

Actual: 30-06 Sprg= 70.6gr H2O
284 Win=69.6gr H2O

Just thought I throw in the numbers.

They have been trying to kill off the 284 for along time just won't die. I did the same thing as COSSACK my 6x284 is on a long action, first one I did was on a 700 short learned my lesson. My 6.5x284 is on a model 70 action put together by Mike Bryant and if feeds great no problem. Browning made afew bolt action rifles in 284 and Ruger did some also. I shot a Ruger #1 284 for along time didn't have a chronograph back then but it was a shooter. My next project is a 284 on a rem long action with a Broughton 5c barrel sporter weight should be able to get 7mag velocity or better. I heard the are making loaded ammo for the 6.5x284 so good option also. Well good luck to all.
