Anyone shooting the 50g Vmax out of 223 Rem with an accurate recipe please let me know. I just set the rig up and seems as I go for the speed, accuracy falls off. Shot a group with Wolfe 55g fmj when sighting in that measured .435 (muzzle velocity 3080 fps) and another with my reloads and 50g Vmax at .575 (muzzle velocity 2975 fps). I loaded the Vmax to a muzzlevelocity of 3280 fps and it seems as though accuracy went by the wayside, best group yesterday was .975 most were 1.300 range. Should I move to a 55g bullet? Any and all comments welcome.

I have had good results with most bullets in that weight with 27.5gr of 2520. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. Wisdom comes with age! Sometimes age comes alone..

Try a max load of H335 with the 50 grain bullet. I also like H322 with it. David

The fastest load is not always the most accurate. Go back to the best grouping load and start playing with seating depth. If you are trying to get BR type accuracy you might consider A-max, or better yet Berger bullets, depending upon the tolerances to which your rifle was built.. If the enemy is in range, so are you. - Infantry manual
