Help needed with Lee Dies

I picked up some Deluxe Lee .270 Winchester dies, and after loading a few rounds I noticed that there isn't enough neck tension as the bullet moves and turns very easily. The inside neck diameter measures at .276 and the bullets measure at .277, so I don't see what is causing the problem. I don't have this problem with my RCBS dies. I'm using new Remington brass the is FL resized. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

John welcome,
The expander may be to large should measure around .2745".
New brass it could be hard but I have never had a problem with new brass.
make sure the die is adjusted properly, most FL dies are turned in to the shell holder then an added 1/4 to 1/2 turn more.

John

- I have had the same problem on occasion. Invariably its down to insufficient pressure being used by the operator! (That would be ME!) Bullet selection also can cause problems - namely Partitions in my case.

Also, I have found that rotating the brass 90 degrees and repeating the seating action sorts out most of the hiccups. Final accuracy still delights me - .75inch at 105yds ...from a 14" barrel!

|Good luck

I had the same problem with the 375 Lee collet die, but then ran them back through and used a little more muscle with perfect results. hope you get it worked out.

You said you used the full length sizer... well you could try sizing them again with the collet sizer if you need/want results now.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help.. I wasn't using enough muscle. I sized the brass using an old Lee press that I clamped to my bench, and I wasn't use to the "feel." I use a Rock Chucker for all my rifle loading, but I had a die already adjusted in it, so I set up the Lee press, which doesn't cam over like the RC. I switched to my Rock Chucker, and sized them again. Neck tension is now fine. Thanks again
