is there anybody loading 3030 with 180 gr or uppward in this caliber?

Danny. I load a 190 gr. cast lead bullet in my 30-30 rifles. Bullet is RCBS #30-180-FN. Bullet weighs 189.9 gr. average from my alloy. Accuracy has been quite good at 1900 FPS from a 94 Win. carbine and a Marlin 336. Let's just say any deer within 150 yards and standing still is in deep trouble.

Take a look at the Cast Bullet Assoc. web site. In the C.B.A. news letter the fouling shot Dennis Marshall many articles on loading heavy cast bullets in the 30-30.

I loaded several 190 Lyman #311644 into my Marlin M336 30/30. After sizing and gas-check and lubing, these bullets are weighing from 197-198 grains. I have to seat the bullets out too long to work through the action so it's single shot. I'm casting the bullets for my 30-06 but couldn't help but play around some.

SR4759 and XMP5744 have done very well in the 30-06 and would probably be better for the 30-30.
Used RP and WW cases, regular RP 9 1/2 primers, and OAL was from 2.670" to 2.695"

I did not change the scope from regular setting so all shots were 7"-8" low at 100yds. with some going a little right or left. BM
