I generally don't lube the inside of the case mouth when resizing. However, when reloading for my 416 Rigby it is a must. I have used various methods, but there has to be a better way that what I have tried to date. I have used these methods so far: dipping the case mouths in powdered mica, removing the sizing stem/button and dipping it in powdered mica and removing the sizing stem/button and putting a little Imperial Wax on it. This last method is kind of what I've been using the most, but I can only get 2-3 cases run through the resizing die before I have to relube. I have been thinking about using a Q-Tip w/ a little Imperial Wax to lube the inside of the case mouth - that way I don't have to remove & replace the stem. Is there a better way and/or better lube than what I have tried. Set-up: I'm using a Redding T-7 press, Redding dies and it is all Norma 416 Rigby brass. Thanks

I have used the "dip in powdered mica" method. I have also used the Q-tip and RCBS lube method. Depending on how tight the case is, the lube, well, gives better lubrication! Having said all that, you stil have to clean the lube from the case mouth to stop the powder from sticking to it. In this regard, the mica may be better ie. less messy. However, in my 416 Rigby, RCBS dies (I believe) and CZ 550, I do not have this problem at all. I experience it more in my 7x57 and 7 mm rimmed. Peter. Be without fear in the face of your enemies. 1+ on dipping the case mouth in the mica. I use RCBS water soluble lube for the outside and just rinse the cases off after sizing and dry in the sun.

As far as cleaning off the lubricant - I just throw them in the tumbler for a couple hours.

Mix the dry lube of your choice with birdshot in a small container. Push the necks down in the container. When you lift, the weight of the birdshot will make it drop free, knocking off the extra powder as it goes. I use a little plastic box with a snapon lid, and go years without needing to recharge the shot. It is a good citizen's duty to love the country and hate the gubmint.

Just get the carbide sizer kit for your dies, got it for my 06 dies, no lube needed, in the neck anyway.

Using a case lube that does not contaminate powder or primers, means you don't have to worry about removing it. RCBS case slick is just such a lube. I stand the cases up in a loading block, spray from both sides. Some of the lube gets inside the necks. That's all you'll ever need. As for the powder sticking to the residual lube inside the neck, so what? If the lube is negative for damage to powder, the bullet will push the sticking powder down where it belongs. Some will say they can't have lube on the inside of the necks. it will affect the bullet pull. Probably so, but if it's consistent, again so what? Just don't clean it off one time, then leave it in the next! if you run, you just die tired It's not that life is so short, it's that death is sooo long! Speak kindly to me, beloved master. Like griz, I spray the inside of the case necks but I use Lyman spray.....after resizing and before seating I wash the cases in a small amount of gasoline and then use an airhose to blow the cases dry. It works for me!!! /////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// "Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance, and the gospel of envy, its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." I use a stamp pad to lube my cases. I kinda super saturate one corner of the pad and after I roll the cases, I press the mouth of the case into the pad in that corner. A small bead of lube collects on the inside of the neck and the resizing ball carrys it onto the inside of the neck. I toss the resized cases into the tumbler for a while and I'm done. I've done this so much and for so long it's automatic. Kinda like giving the case a half turn when I seat bullets.

+1 on the One Shot, never had a problem with it, I lay em out on a paper towel, spray slowly at an angle down the line from one side to the other getting inside the case neck and on the shoulder, then back down the rest of the case on the return. Let em dry for a few seconds, then roll em all 180º and repeat on the other side. Size, trim, prime and load em, no need to tumble clean em, just wipe the outside off with a paper towel.

I wrap a bore brush with a piece of Armorall protectant wipe and run it inside the case neck. this dioesn't affect the powder and lets the expander ball come out of the case neck with no trouble. You're not using the correct Imperial product. Use what is intended: http://www.redding-reloading.com/pages/imperialdrynecklube.html I apply it with THIS TOOL It says 'new' but has actually been on the market for many years. Redding has just recently become the Imperial dealer. I tried mica. It doesn't work. I've got a whole jar not being used after I switched to Imperial neck lube.
