Any 6.5X57 reloaders have a favorite powder? I will be reloading for a Steyr SBS this weekend and have very little info. A few loads from an older Hornady manual and some loads gleemed from the web. I also have a 6.5X55 Sako that I reloaded for and it seems to prefer IMR4895. I would guess that I could use 6.5X55 information as a good starting point and go from there. I have a few suitable powders, but would like to hear from others. Thanks Again Ron

You might send Seafire a PM. That just happens to be one of his pet cartridges. Myself ,if I were using bullets 140grains + I'd go with one of the 4350s or possibly 4064. roger Old age is a high price to pay for maturity!!! Some never pay and some pay and never reap the reward. I should have mentioned what bullet.. 120 to 140 for the most part. In the Swede both 120 and 140 seems to prefer IMR4895 over IMR4350. I have both 4064 and 4350 also have some Varget but this seems to be best for lighter bullets from the little info I have. Ron

120gr ballistic tip can be launched from my 6.5x57R at 3000fps with Viht N560. The 140gr speer does 2,850fps with RL22. 26" barrel - yes they are over SAAMI but it is a very strong (K95) action and the loads were carefuly worked up. Certain that RL22 is tops for 140gr.

I have very good results with Vihta N140 for 120/125 grain bullets from teh 6.5x57 R and yes, the K95 can digest "hot" loads.

Most of my work w/the 6.5X55 has been w/100 grn bullets in a 1:9 twist pac-nor on a rem 700 action. Best IMR 4064 Also good, R15, Varget, IMR 4895 No trouble pushing 3200 fps, but usally shoot 100 NBT at 43.5 grn IMR 4064 for 3150 it's a fresh wind that ... Blows Against the Empire
