One of my friends has a 700 Sendero that shoots excellent groups using 165 Nosler Ballistic Tips and a really HOT load of IMR 7828. It is about 1 grain over the recomended. Does anyone eles 300 shoot this, does it perform well?

Croberts, What combos have you decided to try in that 700 Police thus far?

Reloader,
As of right now I have tried various combos of 200 gr Sierra's and assorted powders. I still have not under 1 inch. Due mainly to the fact that I have only shot about 50 shots through it. I have been told that it may take as many as 250 to see a consistent accuracy. I am going to try some 220's next for long range deer hunting. But for the summer hunting of Groundhogs I may try the 165's to ge the barrel started in for good shooting while working on the others at the same time. I guess I am still in indecision to see what shoots the best.

I've been using 165 gr. Par. with RL-22 with real good accuracy and velocity. You might want to give it a try.

The big bores like the slow burning powders best. I'd suggest R25 and Retumbo - in addition to I7828, which should also work well. If you're going over "max," I suggest getting the NECO internal ballistics program along with a chronograph and a hand priming tool. Both can give good information on where you're at pressure wise. Loose primer pockets, after a few reloading, means you operating 65,000 psi or above, because at that pressure you may not see clear-cut external evidence of pressure (i.e., extracter marks). Coordinating your load's velocity with powder type, barrel length, etc. with the NECO internal ballistics program can give you a good estimate of your maximum pressure. Also, whenever reloading HOT, be careful and make no mistakes.

I found R22 gave the best results in my rifle with 165 grain bullets. I use 79 grain with a Hornady SST. Accuracy and velocity are very good.
