I am looking for loads in these 2 calibers with Vihtavuouri powders shooting bullets of 160grs,& 180grs and for the Dakota
200 grs wildacts. I would like the powder which gives the highest speed. Is n-170 slower than n-560? I am now using rl-25 and I am getting great speeds for my 7mm rem mag,the 160gr accubonds give 3077fps, Will the vv powders give me that speed and which one is as slow as rl-25, any experience with these powders is welcome.
Thanks
Elmerdeer

I dont have any data using Viht N170 or N560 in a 7mm Mag or 7mm Dakota, but I have used both powders in other cases.

I have listed some of my chrono data in my 25/06AI to give a comparison of Viht N560 and N170 with other powders.
25/06AI (71 grains capacity)
100 grain Nosler BT
61.0 grains Viht N560 - 3484
62.0 grains Viht N560 - 3566 (Max)
61.0 grains Re22 - 3501
62.0 grains Re22 - 3580 (Max)
62.0 grains N165 - 3499
62.0 grains N165 - 3562 (Max)

115 grain Nosler BT
59.0 grains Viht N165- 3305 (Max)
61.0 grains Re 25 - 3218
62.0 grains Re 25 - 3293 (Max)
63.0 grains H1000 - 3271 (Max)
63.0 grains Viht N170 - 3202
64.0 grains Viht N170 - 3286 (Near Max/Max)

I recently tested Viht N570 for the first time, and had read one report that it was slower burning than Viht N170, but my testing with N570 in my 257W found it to be slightly faster burning than N170.

Hope that the above is of some help. Brian.

I haven't used the VV powders in the big 7s but VV makes a very good powder line, very uniform. I have settled on IMR7828 in my 7rem mag & 7mmDakota. From the 26" bbl. I get 3100fps in the 7rm & 3250fps in the 7mmDakota, with sub MOA accuracy. VV170 is abit slower than RL25, & VV560 is quite abit faster than RL25. Have a look: http://www.reloadbench.com/burn.html

Hello Elmerdeer. Mayby too lately?
VihtaVuori Reloadin file:

7mm Rem Mag Testing barrel 24" 9" twist Spizer Sierra 160gr max.N-160gr 64.3gr 2844fps.
max. N-165 73,4gr 3015fps.
max. N-560 73,9gr 3114fps.
Mayby the case is too small for N-170.
