I am going to load some 140 grain Barnes X bulllets in the 7mmSTW. I have a fair amount of WC 872 and would like to use it. I see Saeed loaded H870 from 90-98 grains with this bullet. With WC 872 being somewhat slower, will I run out of case capacity before getting good velocity/accuracy?-----Thanks-----------Chainsaw

I'm not sure how to answer your question. According to quick load 90 grains of h 870 gives 103% fill. It would seem that saeeds loads would have been pretty compressed. According to quickload a 90 grain load would give 56,000 psi. Personally I hate H870 cause it seems so inconsistant.

I'm not sure about the powder you want to use. The bottom line is, how much can you get into the case--if you are SURE IT'S SLOWER then it would appear you would run out of room before hitting good velocity.
The only way to try is to load a few up and different increments --compress to your own comfort level and chrony them??????

I personally load my 7stw with btwn 75-82 grains of the following powders: RL-19, RL-22, IMR-7828. Thay have all produced .5" 100yrd 3 shot groups or smaller with 139grn, 140grn, 150grn, 160grn, 162grn N/Ps & Hornadays' Interlok bullets.
Interestingly enough the smallest three shot 100yrd group to date was a .255" loaded with 75grns of RL-19 and a 150grn N/P.
Most (90%+) of my most accurate loads come strate out of the Nosler reloading book.
