sorry bro, both of mine are metal. that one looks like too much work. :-)

I have a similar press mounted on a stand my step-father made. My Forster is on a stand with a truck brake drum for the base. if you decide to go the metal route pm me I'll get some pics.

I'll confess that I took the easy way out and got one of the portable ones from Midway. At first, I didn't think the plastic would hold up, but I've now loaded over 1000 rounds on it, including FLS some belted mag brass, which is about the hardest pulling that I have to do. It has held up fine, and I'd made the purchase again. Think I paid around $50 for it. I'll look for a link.

Here's mine. It's just a simple laminate of two 3/4-inch (20mm) pieces of plywood with three holes drilled in it. It big enough to hold the press and has ample room around the footprint of the press to bolt it to anything for which you can find bolts long enough to go through from one side to the other. Simple. Easy. Works. The hole just above the lower bolt is 1/4-inch. I use it for bending open the case mouth just enough to loosen bullets my kinetic puller can't budge. You can also do that in the hole in the shell holder and press ram. The small bits of paper towel in the linkage keep spent primers from collecting in there.

That presented stand is not that strong. Notice it's made of plywood. I imagine there are screws screwed into the endgrain. I think my simple laminated plank is much better. But that's just my opinion...

Are you talking about the pic that you posted up at the top?

It looks to me like that stand will be plenty strong. If you look you can see that no only has he supported the plywood top on the inside with some aluminum angle, but also has bolted it to a brace on the outside as well. My concern would be having the back of the stand lift up off the base, but if you notice the front of the stand has been moved forward so there is a bit of compression to balance out the tension that happens on the back of the stand. Plus if the builder is inspired enough to include some bolted angle aluminum to the top, I suspect he will have the back side that we cannot see adequately reinforced as well.

Having said that, I like your design better as it gets the press down lower and closer towards you than the first design, but that is just a preference and I don't think his is a bad design and his would also be more comfortable to operate from say, a bench.

Kevin Rohrer,

It is Krylon Stone followed up by a couple good coats of Krylon clear. All from your local Big-Mart in a spray bomb can.

Go to www.castboolits.com and check the unit a guy makes there. Plates to fit all your mounting holes out of aluminum that slide and lock into a large plate that you bolt to the bench.
