There are some potential US Export legal isssues. Some scopes require a State Department License (SDL) for export. Violations of the law have very serious consequences. If license is required, it can be obtained for a fee and a time consuming process for the individual. Both shipper and consignee must not be on the Table of Denials List. Sorry for the news, but I just ried to ship a mate a Leupold scope and EAW mounts and found it cost more than it was worth, and I was not willing to risk smuggling arms.

Dealers require export permits, individuals aren't bound by the same rules. I've shipped reloading components to OZ a couple times with no problems, I've shipped scopes to Canada a few times with no problems also. As long as the country doesn't have restrictions on it, ship it. USPS has complete information of what can't be shipped.

There is a thread on the classified forum that speaks directly to your question.

OOPS !! Walnut stock mailed to
Canada, confiscated by Customs Help ??

This sounds as if Anyone shipping certain "firearms" related items is subject to export/customs regulations.
I would suggest contacting an attorney who has experience with export/customs regs&laws. Preferably with firearms items exporting.
The NRA may be able go give you a list of such attorneys.
For what it's worth.

Most but not all scopes can be shipped to Australia without problems at either end. Eotechs and the like require export permits.

I'm not sure about exporting brass and bullets but companies like Sinclair won't ship them anymore.

They DO require an import permit to get into Australia. This is easy (and free) to get from the police in each State provided you have the appropriate licence.
