Was at my FFL connection today doing paperwork on my new rifle, when I asked what they had on the Nosler shelf. My friend told me they were discontinueing Noslers as their business has become almost totally Target oriented and don't do much with the hunting trade. As a result all the Noslers are just sitting there. 600 plus dusty boxes, mostly Partitions of assorted caliber and some handgun too. I stocked up on .30 180's and .375 300's at rock bottom prices. They had a lot of .30 180's, .25 100's,6mm 100's,and a moderate amount of .375 300's,.270 130's. They just want to get rid of 'em. Call Ray or Kathy at (209)223-3091 (California) Say Dennis told you to call to get the killer price. By the way I have zero financial interest in this. Just passin' the news along.

Elmo, Well there goes another $400.00! Your friends should be pleased if everyone is loading up. I may buy some more next week depending on what calibers are left.

Elmo, Yes I got a good price. Same as you. I bought 10 boxes each of 300, 375 and 243. Thanks. Oh yeah, my wife dosnt know yet! I will however blame it on you not that it will do me any good. They still have plenty of 300's but are getting low on the 375's. I will place another order next week if they have any left. What is the best price you have found on brass? I definitely want a good supply put away as finding factory ammo is proving to be expensive if not difficult. Did you order any woodleigh's yet?

I just got off the phone with Ray.....just wanted to let people know that this place charges a 3% credit card fee and "handling" in addition to the shipping charge. The wanted $15 to ship four boxes of 180 grain bullets! I checked with the USPS postage calculator and I can ship those 4 boxes of bullets anywhere in the US via Priority Mail for $7.70, and they supply the box!

Bottom line, I would have saved less than $2 per box........I cancelled the order and will be buying from my regular supplier.

GONEHUNTIN, Is your regular supplier a local retailer or mail order? IT cost me $25.00 for shipping etc. I imagine as the number of boxes you order goes up you get a break.

Mike

I buy most of my supplies from www.armsandammo.com . I usually stock up when they come to the local gunshows.

I guess there are two things that really tick me off about this situation. First is the 3% credit card charge, as far as I know, it is a violation of contract with every major credit card company to charge a fee to accept the card. Second is the "handling" charge, what exactly do I get for the handling charge? I don't mind paying the shipping, but $15 is outrageous! I ran a UPS rate and it was $8.16 to ship the package, US Priority Mail was $7.70.... Sorry, but I can't see paying a company that is in business to sell something and extra $7 to "handle" the product.

I'll climb down off my soapbox and crawl back into my corner now......

I dont blame you. I agree but I didnt get hit for these charges. It was a flat $25.00 above my purchase price. I damn sure will check my credit card now though! I will be especially ticked if they tack on the extra fees without informing me! Ill keep you posted.

As I buy this stuff over the counter, and pay with a check, I wasn't aware of the extra charges. Mike , if there are any surprises with your bill, let me know and I'll make a phone call.

Elmo, Thanks! I appreciate the help but Ray seemed pretty up front on the phone. I will let you know. I dont mind fees as long as everything is out front. Just dont like surprises. Even so the prices are good or at least no worse even if fees are added. It is just the principle of the thing. Either way thanks for the tip as I know you were just trying to repay the favour! Just to let you know know, I hurt a lot more than I did yesterday. Just proof that everything is slower at this age.

Anyone happen to contact Nosler to see if they are REALLY discontinuing the Partitions?????? I don't think Nosler has been told they are discontinuing their primo bullet.

Last time I looked, they were making them as fast as they could. You could get a real good deal at Nosler in Bend Oregon. I picked up a bunch of 22, 25, 30 and 338 cal Partitions, BT's and J-4's for about 2/3 the price in stores, with no tax and shipping charges. Nothing wrong except cosmetic blems, won't make a difference in groups or the animal you hit.

Maybe someone should tell them so they won't continue to make something someone said they have discontinued.

MAKATAK,

The way I read it was that this particular dealer was going to cease stocking partitions and stick to stocking the target oriented bullets. Not that Nosler was stopping production of the partitions. I could be wrong, but that was the way I read it.

Elmo...Once again proof of the trueism,"NO GOOD DEED GOES UNPUNISHED!" The 3% increase for using a credit card is poor wording, though common. It should be stated as a "3% discount for check or cash". Just more words, but the same thing.

I called ray, and even with all the extra charges, I'm still saving about 25% off what I pay for the bullets locally.

Gripe all you want to, it's still a "good deal".

I got my order today. Ray did tack on a 3% charge for the credit card. Big deal. After I thought about it it is only $12.00 and the merchants all pay fees on the cards. At this low price I cant blame him. It is still a good deal.

It is a good deal if you buy 10 boxes, but, if you buy just 3 or 4 boxes....then the good deal isn't so good.

I wanted 4 boxes, which would have saved me less than $2/box over the normal cost from my regular supplier and he has to eat too. I'll be buying from him........

I'm glad the deal is helping those of you who can benefit from it. I was just trying to let people know what the deal really was before they waisted their time for $2 per box.

GonHuntin, I understand. I wasnt being demeaning. I just figured the charge didnt matter to me. I appreciate your insight as I would have had to call Ray back when I got the invoice had you not addressed it. I figured the $12.00 didnt matter on a larger order. As you said you only wanted 4 boxes so for an $8.00 savings it wasnt worth it for you.
