Can anyone recommend loads for the .224 TTH for 75 or 80 grain bullets. I really don't know where to start.

Well the link to 224tth data I had no longer works. The 224tth is basically a 22-6mm. Or a slightly smaller 224 clark. The clark has a change in shoulder angle and maybe a taper change I'm not sure. If you can find 224Clark data then reduce it by about 6%.

If you can't find anything measure your case lengtha nd water capacity and I'll run some QL numbers for you for at least a starting point.

As usual just my $.02

I should have some info to get you going. I will have to post it later though as I am away from my books.

Hornady's 7th edition reloading book has data for the 22-6MM.

Layne Simpson did a feature article on the .224 Clark in Rifle Magazine #65 (Sep/Oct '79). Clark used the .257 Roberts case for his wildcat. Shoulder angle changed from 23 to 30 degrees. 257 body taper, .471-.429, 224 Clark, .471-.455.

The following loads are from the article.

80 gr Hornady
H-870, 62.0 gr
WW-785, 52.5 gr
MRP, 53.0 gr
H-4831, 51.5

All loads in this table should be reduced 10% for starting loads.

This is the load info I worked up with my rifle. It is a .224 TTH with a 26 inch barrel. Rem. 700 long action. R-P brass, CCIBR primers.

68 gr. Horn. BTHP #2278 and also the 69 gr. Sierra HPBT Match #1380:

42-45.5 gr. VV N165
42-44.5 gr. IMR 4831

75 gr. Horn. A-max #22792:

45-47.0 RL 22
47-49.5 RL 25
41-43.0 IMR 4831
42-45.0 VV N165
46-48.5 WMR

I didn't do any testing with 80 gr. bullets.

The greater of the two numbers is about half a grain below the max on my rifle. Yours may of course be different. The lower number is where I started with that particular powder.

Start low and work up.

46.0gr/Re-22 3650fps out of a M700 with a 24" Douglas match bbl.

44.0/H4350 3550fps

48.0/H4831 3500fps

Re-22 loads where the most accurate and the fastest without pressure signs.

I have used 69gr Sierra bthp, 75gr Hornady bthp/A-maxes and 70gr TSX's. Scirroccos did not group worth a darn.
