I'm thinking of purchasing a set for my .308 with the idea of F/L sizing using the body die and then using my Lee Collet to size the neck. I'd like opinions on the Redding body die. thanks rob "the older I get, the better I was" | ||

Robz , Thinking of doing the same in my Hornet . Have a set of Reddings for my .243 AI . Really good gear in my opinion . I use that setup: Collet/Body dies, quite a bit. I like it. It allows me to size without the use of an expander and even FL size. Any FL sizing die will work best, if it is as well matched to your chamber dimensions as possible. The Body Die is no exception to this rule. But this uncertainty will be the same regardless of which die you get to FL size your cases - unless you go "anal" and get a custom or a factory die "tuned" to match your chamber. robz I have purchased a Lee Collet Neck Sizer and a Redding Body Die in almost every caliber I load for. When the case gets hard to chamber and the shoulder needs to be pushed back, the Redding Body Die does the job. I use it along with a Stoney Point Head & Shoulders Gauge in order to push the shoulder back just far enough to relieve the crush fit. Also have the gun out to check the ease of chambering. When it goes from crush fit to firm fit, I lock it down and size all the cases.
