I'm considering buying a Remington 700 LTR in .223. This one comes with a 1 in 9" twist. Will this be too fast for the lighter 40 and 50 grain Vmax bullets? Thanks

No, the "problem" that might come up is that if the barrel is not smooth you might not be able to push the smaller bullet as fast as you would like before it starts coming apart due to the combination of rpm and a "rough" barrel. The 50's should be okay, I don't think the 223 can generate enough velocity to cause a problem with them.

I am shooting a 0ne in eight and have no trouble in my 223 with 52gr's at 3220 have shot some lighter ones seen no trouble don't think you have to worry about bullets coming apart until you start pushing them into the high 3000's and low 4000's
