This was on the DrudgeReport today (Aug 27).
The EPA is considering ban on lead bullets.

EPA Denies Ammo Ban Petition
Responding to a grassroots outcry from gun owners, the Environmental Protection Agency today announced that it has denied a petition by the Center for Biological Diversity and other radical groups that had sought to ban the use of lead in ammunition.
Agreeing with the position of the NRA and the firearms industry, the agency explained in a news release that it "does not have the legal authority to regulate this type of product under the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA)." Further crushing the hopes of anti-gun and anti-hunting activists, the release added: "nor is the agency seeking such authority."

I bought 3,500 .224 FMJs today. I ain't takin' their word for nothin'! Liberals are liars. They assure us today, and knife us in the back tomorrow. A ban on lead bullets would put how many Ruger 10/22s and Marlin Model 60s out of action? This is what they want: To end the ages-old American idea that kids should get a .22LR rifle at about twelve years old and learn to shoot-- and to love to go hunting with dad at about fourteen. They want to terminate the genesis of owning a gun and becoming a life-long hunter. Them HSUSA thugs never quit...

Here is a question that I would like to see answered-

The main push behind this petition is that the condors are dying because of lead poisoning. Now the ones that have been autopsied have not had any ingested lead bullets (although one apparently had some embedded pellets but that does not cause lead poisoning, you have to eat or breathe it).

Of course the environmentalists (which is not an accurate word as most true environmentalists understand the value and true necessity of hunting) are trying to put the blame on bullets, but my question is where actually does this lead come from? Old mining runoff? From roadside carrion somehow?

Notice there is a big teaming up to blame it on bullets, but that group does not seem to be really and truly interested in finding out what is actually killing the condors.

They don't care about what is or is not killing any condors. They only care about taking away our Rights. If they have to do it in tiny pieces over decades (as they have been), they'll do it. It's about agenda. The ugly bird itself has zero to do with it.

Here is a retrospective study that pretty well covers the position:

Why do these hand-wringing liberal twits care more about fish and birds and garden slugs than they do about people? Is it because they are feeling guilty about living in the greatest nation God ever led Man to create? Is it because they just don't like hunters? Is it because they just have too much time on their hands and are miserable, so they make other peoples' lives miserable? Gotta be one of 'em...
