I am snowed in and looking for reloading recipies. I have a box of 6mm 105 grain AMAX that I'd like to load for my 6mm Rem. Has anyone had any particularly good luck with this bullet in 6mm Rem?

nearly all 6mm have a 1-9 twist.my 700 VLS will shoot the 107 Match King with 7828 real well but I havent tried the A-Max.If you got the 9 twist I would try it before giving up.

another thing.try it at longer range.mine shoots almost as good at 200 as it does at 100.the group doesnt open up according to range like you think they would.

I shoot it at 800, 900 and 1000 and it does much better than my shooting would indicate! I shoot mollied (by me, the Hornady moly is pretty thin) 105 A-Max's over 46 of IMR 4350, loaded to 3.020" in a SAAMI throat. In a 28", 1-8" barrel they go nearly 3200 fps.

Your 6mm Remington has a 1-9" twist barrel and will shoot the 105gr A-Max with no problem. I use the 105 A-Max for varmint hunting and target shooting. The A-Max's work great on varmints at the longer ranges. I use the 75gr A-max in my 22/6mm AI, the 105gr A-Max in my 243 AI and 6mm AI, the 140gr A-Max in my 6.5/06, the 162gr A-Max in my 7mm/08 and 7mm Mag, and the 178gr A-Max in my 300 Win Mag. I like the heavier bullets for the longer range work and yes, the A-Max's really come apart when they hit varmints. I use all these guns for varmint hunting. I don't shoot the big bores as much as the varmint calibers but in a pinch, they work very well at the longer ranges.

Good luck and good shooting,

The Big Dog
