9,5 m-s, 9,3x57 and 8x57mauser.
Do all these cartridges use the same case with maybe only the shoulder being broadened for the 9.5 and 9.3 bores? I was thinking maybe the 8x57 mauser is the parent case.

aHunterWithout really checking, I think youre right. For eloading I would use .30-06, 9.3x62 or 35 Whelen cases:
as the basic cases are larger and longer, on resizing the shoulder will be formed at the correct place, so less chance to run into headspace trouble.
You should check for neck diameter afterwards, maybe reaming or turning the necks might be necessary.

<Mads>The 9,3x57 is indead based on the 8X57 case.
Im not sure that 9,5x57 is - looking forward to here the final judge rule this question.

P.S
Does anyone use the 9,5x57 any longer? Does it use regular .375 bullets?
I thought the 9.5 m-s might be based on the 8x57 case by looking at a cartridge lineup of it and the 9.3x62 shown in the "classic cartridges" .375 H&H site of african-hunter magazine online.

<eldeguello>As far as I know, ALL 57mm cartridges that have head diameters in the .466" to .473" range are based on the 8X57Jmm cartridge originally used in the M1888 "Mauser & Commission" rifle. This round has been necked down to as small as 5.6mm (.224), and up to as large as 10.75mm (.424"). This last size must be hell for headspacing, ala .400 Whelen!!

VetaikaranA very old thread - does anybody have real practical experience on this one. I own a 9.3X62 as well as a 9.5X57 MS. I used to own a 9.3X57 as well.
I am keen to confirm the best source of 9.5MS brass. at the moment I am using 35 Whelan brass reformed by Buffalo Arms.
Any help would be appreciated.
