No problem getting 4000 fps with several powders in the R15 to 4064 burn rate range in a 24 inch Encore bbl. For top accuracy, you will probably need a collet type neck sizing die as these bullets are short and won't reach the lands. Centering them in the bore is therefore important and the collet dies do a good job.

My .243 in M788 loves this bullet with 53 gr. of H380, a max load. I use the Hornady dies, it seats them nicely, I have them down just far enough for the bullet to stay seated, they run out 3/4" groups at 100 yds for me and blow up anything that I aim at, they are absolutely devastating on varmints, and crows are reduced to a cloud of feathers. Try them out and have fun with them!

POP, my .243 didn't like the 55 gr Ballistic Tips at all. On the suggestion of a friend, I tried the 58 gr. Hornady V Max and got excellent accuracy. My rifle likes a relatively mild load for best accuracy but mild is a relative term here since they're moving at 3685 FPS average. Accuracy is right at MOA for 5 shots. This load basically duplicates performance of a .22-250. Ed

Velocity from a 24" barrel will run in the vicinity of 4000 fps with appropriate powders. The 55 BT's gave me accuracy equal to the same bullet in the 70 grain weight at 100 yards, but for truly long range shots the 70 grainer carries more authority and has less wind drift. There are no flies on the 55, but I'm going back to the 70 since it does everything just as well and some things better.

Pop, I've tried the 55 gr. Ballistic tip also but the 58 gr. v-max shoots soooo much better in my rifles...I use 44.0 grs. of Varget and it shoots wonderful...I have killed a bunch of coyotes with this bullet in the ..243 win and also in the 6mm BR and it does a number on them..I should mention that this seems to be a maximum load with moly coated bullets in my rifle...I think varget is THE powder for this weight bullet in the .243....Good luck....George
