I've found the best way to buy the stuff is to get Dacron batting, that is used for quilting. I usually get the 1/4" thinck variety for most loading and the 1/2" stuff for larger cases like the 45-70. You can lay it out flat and with a straight edge, cut a piece 1/2" wide the length of the batting. Then, with scissors, cut off 1/2" square pieces to stuff in your cases. Weight will run right around one grain. It's a lot easier than trying to pull off a piece that weighs as close to the same as the next from Dacron to be used in a pillow. Usually, Walmart has the best prices on the stuff. Anyway, that's what works for me. Paul B.

Beware that some of those fiberfills can and will cause ringed chambers. Had a customer that had two C Sharps rifles with ringed chambers. A 45-70 and a 50-140. There was another thread that discussed that very subject a few days ago on this board I believe under Big Bores. The discussion on fillers can be found under Foam Fillers Wreck Doubles in the Big Bore Forum. A good powder that does not need a filler in large cases if Accurate Arms XMP 5744 [ 10-07-2002, 05:34: Message edited by: Bob G ]
