I just got back from the range. I shot my new, (to me), 243 with a couple different light bullets. First load was a 58 grain Barnes Varminator, I bought a bunch when they were discontinueed. The second load was with the 72 grain Varminators, also discontinued. This is an older Rem. 700 that was pretty beat up when I bought it. The 58 grain best load shot 5/8's inch for 5 shots. The 72 grain load did an inch even. Not bad for an old rifle thats obviously seen some wear and tear. Pwd was H414, Win. brass, CCI large rifle primers. 47.5 grains under the 58 grain bullet and 43 grains under the 72's I was going to pull the barrel and replace it with a new Shillen match, but I'll wait and see what this one does with some more work.
